2024’s Event

We have made the hard decision to cancel Exeter Fest in May 2024 (Northernhay Gardens, Exeter).

We have gone out to look for financial support from businesses, the council and Arts Grants but have been unsuccessful in raising the £10,000 we needed to make it cost-neutral along with the trader fees.

As many of you will know, last year we used some of our profits from the 2022 Christmas Cathedral Market Bar (as we ran it in 2022) to plug this gap with the remainder coming from bar sales, however, the line between breaking even and loss is so fine and without the profits from the Christmas market bar in 2023 that profits simply aren't there to lean on. The long and short is it costs £40,000 to run this event, and that’s with our founders planning the whole event and working for free to ensure we can pay our suppliers and staff.

We are very sad to have to do this as we believe strongly in the event and our community but sadly with budgets slashed and prices going up, we simply cannot take on the financial risk.  This doesn't mean it's over forever, but 2024 will not see this event run.

    In 2022 we won the tender to run the Exeter Cathdral Christmas Bar. Our bar was themed to match the great atmosphere of the Christmas Cabins, complete with a moose head and countless sleds.
